This weekend was another wonderful day to train and enjoy the beauty of nature.

So I climbed from Zermatt to the Hörnlihütte (3260m) in 2:15 (via Furi, Schwarzsee and Hirli)

Eiger Ultra Trail and way to Matterhorn Ultraks!

It's been a while since I have not posted an update but here is a little reading and I hope you will enjoy it.

Let's resume where we left off ... Scenic Trail Finisher!

Unfortunately, the next day was not the best, I suffered a splint shin that immobilized me for 4 weeks!

That means that I could restart my training 1 week before the Eiger Ultra Trail and what is really not enough for a return in a very good shape.

I decided to invest in compression calf sleeves and I must admit that the result is excellent!

Fortunately, I gained a fundamental endurance that allows me to manage long distances without too much trouble and it is with great pleasure that I finished the race in record time of 7:37!

Since then, I have resumed my regular training without forgetting the factor "fun and pleasure of nature" which are the essence of my passion!

The weekend has just ended and I have the opportunity to do 2 big training with a total of 60km and 4500m of ascent.

I feel really good and I'm looking forward to the weekend of August 24th and 25th in Zermatt where I will participate in the legendary Matterhorn Ultraks. (Http://matterhorn.ultraks.ch/en/pages/parcours/trail/-sky-race-139)

I will run the "Sky" (49km / 3600D +) which is a Skyrunning World series race and I finished in 2017 in a time of 7:53!

Update #2

Scenic Trail and way to Eiger Ultra Trail!

Back in 2017,

I took part in the Scenic Trail 54k (http://scenictrail.ch/en/k54/) but unfortunately after a fall in the 33rd km, it was impossible for me to finish the race and I gave up in the 40th km following a lesion of the left knee.

2018 was a pretty hard edition, a temperature rising up to 28°C and 3/4 of the race under a blazing sun! Fortunately Aaron Rezzonico (organizer of the Scenic Trail) had a perfect coordination and did the necessary to provide additional water points.

And it was after 54km in a time of 09:47 that I was able to cross the finish line with a very big smile.

It was a revenge on my retirement in 2017 but above all a pleasure to race in the beautiful region of Tesserete (Ticino).

A very nice race which also allowed me to train more intensely and which will help me to participate in the Skyrunning World Championships!

I'm looking forward to participating next year but here the road is still long and my next stop will be in Grindelwald for the Eiger Ultra Trail with a race of 51km/3100D+ (https://www.eigerultratrail.ch/en/e51-panorama-trail.html)

Update #1
End of preparation and beginning of the 2018 season.

The month of April was rather mixed in terms of my preparation due to a forced break of 3 weeks.

A tension at the soleus muscle level that I managed to treat by electrotherapy.

So to avoid any injury, I was forced to stop running but I was able to keep a fundamental endurance and a good shape while cycling.


Despite this, I was still afraid that my season might be compromised.

May was a completely different month and also helped me regain a little more confidence.

No more calf tensions, I seriously but gently resume my training with 2 races completed with success.

05.05.2018 - See Trail Marathon Brienzersee. A Trail marathon of 43.4km with 1500m ascent acheived in 4:47

19.03.2018 - Grand Prix of Bern. I've been chosen to run as Pacemaker in a time of 1:25

The melting snow allowed me to return to one of my favourite training areas, the Bernese Oberland where I enjoyed running under the impressive scenery of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau!

Finally, May proved to be an extremely positive month with a total of 238.8km and 10907m of climbing. ( http://www.strava.com/athletes/4712595 )

I feel ready to start my Trail running season and the 1st race will take place on 09.06.2018 in Tesserete (Ticino).
